POSITION TITLE:

ELEMENATARY EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR, GRADES K-6

Salary Range:
$50,000-$62,000

Overview:
The elementary education instructor serves as the primary educator for students throughout the school day.

This role acts as the main link between home and school, advocating for each child's educational journey at Charter Champions.

Reports to the Building Principal or Assistant Principal

Employment Status:
Exempt


Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and certifications. This is a 10-month in-person role, with full-time employees eligible for insurance and 403(b) benefits, with costs dependent on selected coverage.

All candidates must complete fingerprint clearance prior to employment.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Education Valid Teaching Certificate in New York State for the relevant subject area and/or ESSA highly-qualified status. Previous teaching experience in either public or private education, particularly in urban settings, is preferred; experience working with groups of children and youth is also beneficial.

KEY COMPETENCIES:


We seek a passionate educator who will: Collaboratively design and execute instructional units aligned with New York State Common Core Standards and the curriculum of Charter Champions; Utilize data from various assessments to track student progress toward academic goals; Create a nurturing, supportive, and positive learning environment that fosters student responsibility and community; Work in collaboration with the instructional team, which may include an associate teacher, an Arts Integration (AI) teacher, ENL teacher, etc.

Differentiate instruction as necessary; Coordinate, plan, and co-teach with other educators to fulfill program requirements; Provide an engaging, innovative learning atmosphere; Assess and monitor student progress; Implement effective classroom management strategies; Maintain and enhance expertise in subject areas; Perform additional instructional duties as required; Employ effective practices that motivate students to uphold high standards of conduct; Sustain a classroom environment conducive to learning through positive behavior approaches and restorative practices; Analyze student learning data to identify areas for instructional improvement; Understand and uphold professional expectations as defined by the 4 domains of Charlotte Danielson;


Demonstrate the ability to collaborate across disciplines; Maintain open communication with parents and encourage their involvement; Organize and plan flexible, goal-oriented groups based on students' instructional needs; Ensure lessons are both enriching and rigorous, allowing students to elaborate, analyze, make cross-curricular connections, apply their knowledge, and develop creativity and problem-solving skills; and Participate in professional development opportunities.
