Job Summary

The Public Health Management Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surveillance Coordinator to join our team. As a Surveillance Coordinator, you will play a critical role in the prevention and control of waterborne diseases in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate surveillance and investigation of waterborne diseases, including reviewing case investigations and performing trend analyses.
  • Develop and implement strategies to prevent and control waterborne diseases, including working with the Philadelphia Water Department to address water-related concerns.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including disease surveillance investigators, nurses, physicians, and epidemiologists, to investigate and respond to waterborne disease outbreaks.
  • Develop and distribute educational materials and guidelines for the prevention and control of waterborne diseases.
  • Represent the Public Health Management Corporation on the Philadelphia Water Department's Water Quality Committee.
  • Assist with preparedness planning for water-related emergencies and develop joint exercises between the Water and Health departments.
  • Supervise the Waterborne Disease Program Associate and provide guidance and support as needed.
Requirements
  • Master's or nursing degree, preferably in epidemiology, public health, or laboratory field.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to present information effectively.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data management software.
  • Basic SAS programming skills or experience working with analytic software.
  • Flexibility, professionalism, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position requires moderate physical effort, including lifting materials and equipment of less than 50 pounds, and involves viewing a CRT or VDT screen 50 to 75 percent of the time. The position requires responding to public health emergencies and at times requires rapid turnaround of communications on short notice.

Supervision

This position reports directly to the Program Manager of the Acute Communicable Disease Program.

Salary and Benefits

The position salary range is $55,000-$65,000 (commensurate with experience). This position comes with a comprehensive benefits package consisting of medical and dental coverage, as well as paid sick, vacation, and personal time.
