Job Description:

Kitware's Open Source Software Technology Program (OSTP) is seeking a talented software developer to join our team. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting open-source projects while earning a master's degree in Computer Science.

The OSTP is a three-year program that combines work and study. You will work 32 hours per week onsite at our Clifton Park, NY office during college semesters and approximately 40 hours per week on-site during summers.

As a software developer in the OSTP, you will gain a deep understanding of what it takes to create and maintain powerful open-source software platforms. You will learn the technical and business knowledge to become a leader at Kitware and gain a Master's degree.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop innovative open-source software platforms with global impact in the areas of computer vision, scientific computing, data and analytics, medical computing, and software solutions.
  • Work on a variety of projects, learn open-source processes, and build technical leadership skills.
  • Collaborate with our team to advance science, make a positive impact, and share our results.

Requirements:

  • Completing a bachelor's degree in computer science or computer engineering.
  • Demonstrable programming experience from undergraduate projects or internships.
  • Programming experience in C++ and Python.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • US Citizenship and a willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Existing experience with open source software development.
