Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Develop and implement long-term goals and short-term strategies to increase and strengthen the Foundation's overall impact within the community.
    • Grow the Foundation's assets through innovative and effective fundraising strategies.
  • Grantmaking & Community Impact:
    • Oversee the Foundation's grantmaking and community programs initiatives, including special projects and collaborative efforts with other foundations and corporations.
    • Serve as the lead representative for the Foundation on important community collaboratives.
  • Asset Growth & Fund Development:
    • Develop and implement strategies and tactics to meet development goals, with focus on methods to increase unrestricted funds and major and planned gift acquisition.
    • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors/funds and individual prospects.
  • Board:
    • Keep the Foundation's Board of Directors and primary organizational partners informed of all matters affecting performance of the Foundation.
    • Ensure all Foundation Board of Director and associate foundation seats are filled with diverse, fully committed and engaged members of the community.
  • Financial Management and Budgeting:
    • Prepare, implement and oversee an annual Foundation budget.
    • Provide responsible reporting of financial activities and investment performance to the Board and other pertinent stakeholders.
  • Personnel Management:
    • Hire, review and provide direction to the Foundation staff with the goal of maintaining a cooperative and professional working environment.
  • Marketing:
    • Develop and implement a Marketing Plan for the Foundation to include timely and compelling communication with donors, prospective donors and professional advisors.
    • Lead the development and execution of all public relations activities for the Foundation.
  • Community Relations and Events:
    • Serve as the visible voice and primary community representative of the Foundation.
    • Provide primary oversight for all Foundation and associate foundation events, meetings and convening.
  • Organizational Partnerships and Community Foundation Field:
    • Serve as part of the overall leadership team.
    • Lead, support and encourage building of collaborative and efficient systems to support all partner and associate foundations.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in nonprofit management, fundraising and/or charitable activities, and public relations and/or community outreach.
  • Familiarity with the greater Greater White Bear Lake community and its leaders, key donors, and important community issues.
  • Understanding of community issues and how community foundations can play a role in addressing and impacting local communities.
  • Excellent facilitation skills for small and large groups, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail, ability to lead and manage volunteers and staff and function in a team relationship.
