Role Summary:
We are seeking a full-time Upper School Head Math Teacher to join our dedicated team. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students while promoting educational and social-emotional growth. The Head Teacher will design and implement a challenging and developmentally appropriate curriculum tailored for students with learning disabilities, integrating Quaker values into all aspects of teaching.
- Adapt teaching strategies, instructional materials, and assessment tools to accommodate diverse student needs and interests.
- Develop and implement individualized learning plans for homework, organization, and behavior; provide timely feedback on assignments.
- Engage in CSE reviews and meetings, advocating for students as necessary.
- Collaborate with division directors, academic deans, and specialists to address student needs effectively.
- Contribute to the development, evaluation, and enhancement of school programs in partnership with colleagues.
- Prepare and submit trimester reports, grades, recommendations, and evaluations as required.
- Act as a primary advocate for homeroom students, fostering positive relationships with teachers and parents.
- Oversee students during school-wide activities, ensuring a supportive environment.
- Participate actively in the school community, including professional development, faculty meetings, and committees.
- Supervise extracurricular activities such as study halls, student trips, and clubs.
- Engage in school-wide diversity and equity initiatives.
- Analyze administrative practices through the lens of race, identity, and privilege.
- Promote equitable decision-making frameworks.
- Support a culture that embraces diverse social identities.
This is a full-time, exempt position aligned with the academic calendar. Work hours are Monday through Friday, with scheduled faculty meetings and potential evening or weekend commitments as needed.
Qualifications:- Master's degree in Mathematics or related field; experience in special education is advantageous.
- 3-5 years of teaching experience, preferably in independent or charter schools.
- Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Commitment to equity and justice, with a focus on cultural competencies.
- Familiarity with educational technologies, including GSuite and Veracross.
