Practical Nursing Specialist
In accordance with our governmental client requirements, this role mandates US Citizenship.
The Practical Nursing Specialist will be tasked with identifying critical signs and symptoms that may indicate life-threatening conditions and will initiate necessary emergency protocols, including contacting a physician.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Estimated Starting Salary Range for Practical Nursing Specialist: Compensation based on experience.

- Gather information from patients or their families to determine primary concerns, symptoms, or reasons for seeking medical attention.
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration rates, oxygen saturation, pain levels, height, weight, and head circumference; conduct behavioral health assessments.
- Record the patient's main complaint and other relevant details in the electronic health record, including medication reconciliation and behavioral health intake surveys.
- Coordinate care by sharing pertinent information in line with the medical care plan and nursing evaluation, documenting appropriately in the health record.
- Deliver nursing care as per the physician's medical plan and the patient's physical, mental, and emotional requirements. Assist with examinations, diagnostic tests, administer medications, and perform various treatments.
- Conduct routine procedures such as EKGs, cultures, dressing changes, ear irrigation, and bandage applications. Identify adverse signs and symptoms and perform CPR when necessary.
- Review immunization records, administer immunizations following established protocols, and document the administration in the electronic health record or manually.
- Educate patients and families on self-care techniques, normal versus adverse reactions to immunizations, and special requirements such as medication administration and recognizing early warning signs of illnesses.
- Input and retrieve data from computerized systems, maintain medical records, ensure coding compliance, and engage in performance improvement initiatives.
- Monitor expiration dates for medications, vaccines, and supplies; reorder as necessary; assist with patient check-ins; and complete records and clerical tasks in the absence of the medical receptionist.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Must hold and maintain a current, unrestricted license in at least one state or territory in the United States and possess a minimum of two years of successful clinical practice within the last five years.
- Assist in the collection and review of quality improvement data.
- Contribute to problem-solving regarding quality improvement matters.
- Engage in performance improvement processes and action teams as necessary.
- Adhere to established patient care and practice standards.
- Participate in the ongoing evaluation of clinic policies and procedures and recommend revisions as needed.
- Review and submit reports as required.
- May be assigned to other clinics temporarily as needed for additional training.
- Participate in all mandatory training sessions.
- Must successfully complete pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
