Under the guidance of the clinic director and clinical supervisor, the Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for delivering counseling services. This includes the identification, screening, and assessment of patients to ascertain their need for substance abuse treatment, as well as evaluating families and significant others requiring support for substance use disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments, including psychosocial evaluations, to understand patient needs.
2. Develop detailed treatment plans in collaboration with patients and the interdisciplinary team, focusing on both short-term and long-term objectives.
3. Oversee urine collection processes and monitor substance use through toxicology testing.
4. Provide extensive case management services, including discharge planning and referrals to relevant health and human services to ensure ongoing care.
5. Complete all necessary statistical reports as mandated by the hospital and regulatory bodies.
6. Engage in community education initiatives as required by departmental needs, adhering to established policies and standards set by relevant authorities.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience working with individuals facing mental health challenges and substance use disorders.
- Background in a substance abuse treatment environment is essential.
- Fluency in additional languages is advantageous.
- Proficiency in computer applications is required.
- CASAC certification is mandatory.
Education: Undergraduate / Bachelor's Degree
Compensation: 1199 Collective Bargaining Rates
