Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team at Retina & Uveitis Consultants of Maine. As the first point of contact for patients, you will play a vital role in ensuring their comfort and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct vision tests, including visual acuity, confrontational visual field, and pupil evaluation.
  • Perform specialized imaging and diagnostic testing, such as OCT, Fundus Photos, and IOP measurements.
  • Document patient information accurately and thoroughly in our EMR system.
  • Monitor patient flow and escort patients throughout the facility.
  • Assist with clerical duties, such as scheduling, check-in/check-out, and phone calls.
  • Administer eye drops and prepare patients for procedures.
  • Maintain examination rooms and equipment.
  • Restock medication and office supplies.
  • Assist the Ophthalmologist during examinations and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to learn quickly.
  • Medical Terminology knowledge and/or medical office experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associates or Bachelor degree preferred.
