Grocery Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Grocery D/F Bulk Assistant to join our team at Natural Grocers. As a key member of our grocery and dairy team, you will be responsible for assisting the department managers in the successful operation and profitability of the grocery, bulk, dairy, and frozen departments.

• Provide exceptional customer service as a top priority, ensuring a positive shopping experience for all customers.
• Exemplify integrity, responsibility, and excellence, adhering to all company policies and procedures.
• Create inviting and well-stocked departments, ensuring a high level of visual merchandising and display.
• Assist department managers in ordering and inventory management, maintaining accurate levels and minimizing shrink.
• Support department managers in managing margin, COGs, and overall department profitability.
• Ensure all in-stock products meet company standards, offering special orders and following up on customer requests.
• Merchandise shelves, endcaps, and dynamic displays, maintaining a high level of visual appeal.
• Assist in managing and participating in tagging, facing, rotating, cleaning, markdowns, stocking, and backstock.
• Assist in training and monitoring department personnel, assigning and following up on tasks.
• Conduct active and passive demos, promoting products and services to customers.
• Work with department managers to address performance issues within the department.
• Support store opening and closing activities, including Daily Sales Report (DSR) and cash handling.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year of experience in grocery or retail environment preferred, with natural foods background a plus.
• 1 year of experience supervising others preferred.
• Ability to pass food safety training courses and maintain compliance.
• Excellent customer service skills, with ability to manage changing priorities and stay focused.
• Highly organized with great attention to detail, ability to take direction and follow through.
• Cashier training and ability to count currency required.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
