Surgical Technologist at Cleveland Clinic

As a Surgical Technologist, your role will be crucial in delivering individualized patient care throughout the surgical process. You will oversee the maintenance of a sterile environment and manage the inventory of surgical supplies, adhering to the standards set forth by the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses.
This full-time position typically involves three 12-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 7 PM, with additional on-call responsibilities during nights and weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review daily assignments and specific preferences of the surgeon.
- Assess and prioritize the unique care needs of each patient.
- Plan care in accordance with the scheduled procedure and physician preferences.
- Uphold aseptic techniques and safety protocols within the department.
- Ensure compliance with standards for patient positioning and skin preparation.
- Assist in draping and maintain the sterile field throughout the procedure.
- Communicate essential information effectively during surgical procedures.
- Optimize room usage and ensure the availability of necessary equipment and supplies.
- Exhibit knowledge of surgical instruments and procedural protocols.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a Surgical Technology Program or a Licensed Practical Nurse certification is required.
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is mandatory.
Experience:
- A minimum of two years of experience in an acute care hospital environment is preferred.
Physical Demands:
- This role involves a heavy workload that requires frequent lifting and moving of patients and equipment.
- Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds independently.
- Capability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.
- Self-motivated and proactive; willingness to work beyond eight hours per day when necessary.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Adhere to Standard Precautions with the use of personal protective equipment as required.
