Role Responsibilities
The Energy Analyst will:

  • Model fundamental building features, including internal gains, multiple zones with central HVAC systems, daylighting, and thermal transmission impacts.
  • Utilize project-specific inputs to model mechanical systems and assess central plant partial-load operating efficiencies.
  • Conduct lighting photometric calculations to estimate light levels accurately.
  • Simulate complex Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) such as heat recovery and variable frequency drive applications.
  • Determine the suitability of energy systems for modeling with simulation software.
  • Establish procedures for transferring design document details into energy models.
  • Develop occupancy, lighting, and equipment load schedules based on project owner input.
  • Interpret model output reports, including annual and monthly end-use analysis and equipment efficiencies.
  • Implement an in-house modeling quality control process.
  • Calibrate energy models to reflect actual post-occupancy conditions.
  • Perform hand calculations and spreadsheet analyses to refine energy model inputs and outputs.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of three years of full-time modeling experience with a computerized building modeling tool for energy analysis.
  • A technical degree from an accredited four-year university, complemented by four years of relevant experience in envelope heat transfer, HVAC systems, lighting design, and energy efficiency technology.
  • Alternatively, a two-year technical degree with six years of relevant experience if a four-year degree is not held.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all building systems, including building envelope, HVAC, and lighting systems, along with expertise in current energy-efficient technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in building simulation modeling with a focus on project-specific model inputs.
