Job Summary

The Product Development Manager will drive the growth of the JOANN private brand business through innovative and trend-correct product offerings. This role will lead a team in strategy development and execution of product offerings for specific categories of business. The Product Development Manager will collaborate with merchants to develop strategic direction and lifestyle-appropriate assortments. This position has direct responsibility for the product development functions for specific product categories and reports to a Manager of Product Development. The Product Development Manager will need to work collaboratively with all cross-functional partners for smooth execution and evaluation of assigned category success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategize and build trend-relevant assortments and key items in accordance with the Joann merchandising strategy
  • Work directly with agents/suppliers to develop product from ideation to execution
  • Communicate sample comments/approvals to suppliers through product lifecycle; initial development through PP sample
  • Manage the product development lifecycle executing to the MLC dates
  • Evaluate market trends to seek out future opportunities and drive price/value relationship
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to obtain product performance results to drive future development
  • Lead weekly PD meetings with cross-functional partners
Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervision of product development functions for assigned category and will assist the Manager of Product Development in duties deemed appropriate.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Management, Brand Management, or Fashion Merchandising

Experience: 4+ years of experience in Merchandising, Brand Management, Product Development or Sourcing. Preferred: 3-5 years of relevant experience in Sourcing or another Product Development role.

Working Conditions
  • This role requires in-person attendance 4 days a week at the Store Support Center (SSC) located in Hudson, OH. Flexibility to work remotely when requested is determined by management and business needs.
  • Domestic and/or international travel required.
  • Sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods while maintaining focus and productivity.
  • Move around an office space and between buildings on a large campus, including reaching for files, retail product, supplies, or equipment, as well as the ability to adapt to various workstation setups.
  • Work standard business hours and extended hours as needed based on task and project demands.
  • Utilization of all communication styles - written, verbal, electronic options.
  • Lift and carry office supplies, documents, retail product or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds as needed for tasks such as organizing or setting up workstations.
