Role Summary
Exceptional Care for Children (ECC) is thrilled to present an opportunity to become a vital member of our dedicated healthcare team as a Pediatric Nursing Specialist. We are looking for individuals ready to commit to full-time roles, working three 12-hour shifts weekly during the night.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, ECC is devoted to delivering exceptional care and services to pediatric patients who require transitional, long-term, and/or palliative care. Our facility operates around the clock, providing specialized care to medically fragile children, from birth to age 21, who depend on medical technology.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive care and advocacy for residents needing clinical expertise, employing the nursing process to assess and enhance care provided by the entire team.
- Engage actively in the care planning process.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation, including narcotic counts, patient evaluations, progress notes, crash cart inspections, and all other clinical observations.
- Champion the needs of residents both within and outside of Exceptional Care for Children. Foster daily interactions through conversation, play, and nurturing to stimulate residents.
- Provide essential training to family members and/or caregivers regarding specific patient care objectives.
- Oversee the workflow of Certified Nursing Assistants assigned to patients, taking on charge RN responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education and experience that meet the requirements of the position.
- Current RN license in the state of DE, a compact state, or eligibility for reciprocity.
- Preferred experience of one year or more in a relevant setting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of navigating electronic medical records.
- Exemplifies effective communication skills and the ability to deliver presentations.
- Demonstrates a strong interest in working with pediatric long-term care residents and children with special needs.
- Ability to communicate in English effectively, relating positively and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, vendors, and colleagues.
