Job Summary

The Clinical Informatics Specialist 2 plays a pivotal role in promoting the understanding, integration, and application of healthcare information technology to support clinician/provider objectives, organizational vision, and strategic goals, as well as industry best practices.

This position drives the optimal, efficient, and effective use of clinical information systems and technology in relation to patient care, patient safety, user satisfaction, clinical productivity, and quality outcomes.

The successful candidate will serve as a lead and subject matter expert, bridging the gap between people, process, clinical knowledge, and technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of Baylor Scott & White Health policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Develops an understanding of cross-functional teams within BSWH Information Systems and other third-party IS teams to determine the impacts of build to upstream and downstream processes.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the impacts to workflow from enhancements, projects, and application upgrades.
  • May serve as the lead for a sub-group for the operational advocate/service line.
  • May serve as the user-acceptance testing lead for a domain/application/service line.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, along with 3 years of experience.
  • Must have one of the following certifications: Epic Clinical Informatics Certification, ANCC Board Certified Clinical Informatics (RN-BC), or Certified Professional in Health Information & Management Systems (CPHIMS).
  • Licensed clinician such as nurse, physical therapist, occupational therapist, pharmacy technician, dietitian, respiratory therapist, speech pathologist, etc. preferred.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Sound understanding of clinical practice as it pertains to the integration of clinical information systems/technology and impact on end users.
  • Able to effectively utilize resources with fiscal responsibility in planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of clinical practice issues and compliance with current standards/competencies and regulatory bodies.
  • Able to manage multiple projects.

Qualifications
  • EDUCATION - Bachelor's or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
  • EXPERIENCE - 3 Years of Experience.
  • CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Cert Prof HC Inform/Man Sys (CPHIMS), Epic Certification (EPICCERT), BC-Informatics Nursing (RN-INFO): Must have 1 of the following:
    • EPICCERT: Epic Clinical Informatic Certification.
    • CPHIMS: Certified Professional in Health Information & Management Systems.
    • RN-INFO: ANCC Board Certified Clinical Informatics.
