Ambulatory Services Manager

As a key member of the Kaiser Permanente team, the Ambulatory Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a large unit or multiple units, ensuring high-quality, accessible, and cost-effective care to members across the continuum. This role requires strong leadership and management skills, with a focus on developing and maintaining clinical practice standards, budgets, and staff development.
Essential Responsibilities:
~ Manage the operations of a large unit or multiple units, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
~ Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to establish, implement, and maintain patient care and quality service standards.
~ Act as a patient advocate, resolving patient care issues and ensuring that members receive the highest level of care.
~ Design and evaluate processes to improve systems and patient care results across the continuum of care.
~ Develop and monitor budgets and resource allocations, identifying opportunities to reduce costs and improve quality of care/service.
~ Determine the appropriate staff mix for the department and develop processes to screen, interview, hire, train, and maintain the competency of all department staff, providing ongoing staff development.
~ Manage and resolve human resource, labor relations, employee and department safety, and risk management issues.
~ Develop, implement, and monitor departmental policies and procedures that support the organization's goals and business objectives, collaborating with Physician Team Leader and Department Chief to develop the level of patient services and day-to-day operations of the department.
Secondary Functions:
~ Manager of Plastic Surgery, Transitional Care, and nursing practice oversight of Cosmetics nurses.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
~ Minimum five (5) years of nursing experience in management/leadership roles required.
~ Minimum five (5) years of supervisory experience required.
Education
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelors degree in nursing or health related field required, OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
License, Certification, Registration
~ Registered Nurse License (California)
~ Basic Life Support
Additional Requirements:
PALS, PEARS and/or ACLS certifications may be required for positions in specific departments. Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and other local, state, federal regulations. Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills. Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum three (3) years of experience in an outpatient care setting. Clinical specialization in area of practice. Masters degree preferred. Kaiser Permanente
