Position Summary
The Universal Banker II role is pivotal in providing exceptional customer service to both existing and prospective clients. Individuals in this position are expected to demonstrate strong communication abilities and possess a deep understanding of the products and services available. The role involves identifying opportunities for referrals that lead to outstanding customer service outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively seeks opportunities to enhance customer relationships to meet both personal and branch objectives.
- Effectively drive sales through relationship building, exemplary service, and product expertise. Monitor and track sales activities using customer information systems.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of personal banking products, trusts, HSAs, IRAs, and business services.
- Skilled in non-real estate secured lending practices.
- Develop a strong grasp of real estate secured lending.
- Utilize needs-based questioning to accurately assess consumer requirements and strengthen customer relationships.
- Refer clients to banking partners leveraging skills gained from internal sales training.
- Meet or surpass personal and team performance targets.
- Exhibit strong decision-making capabilities and conduct sales activities with minimal oversight.
- Engage in on-site customer visits to promote various programs and services.
- Participate in outbound teleconsulting efforts to nurture and expand client relationships.
- Ensure accurate processing of customer transactions while safeguarding against fraud.
- Engage in community events to create networking opportunities.
- Contribute to bank-sponsored community initiatives.
- Provide training and mentorship to new employees on banking systems.
- Actively engage in weekly team meetings and one-on-one coaching sessions.
- Serve as a backup Universal Banker II at different Midland States Bank locations as needed.
- Demonstrate and embody the core values of Midland States Bank that support our organizational culture.
- Complete all assigned training activities in a timely manner.
- This role may require occasional travel for training and team meetings, as well as collaboration with internal and external customers.
- Adhere to all applicable regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated background in sales and customer service.
- National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration is required under the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Capability to lift and transport coin and currency bags weighing between 25lbs and 50lbs.
