Position Overview
The role of the Underwriting Assistant involves conducting initial assessments of various lines of commercial insurance and ensuring compliance with established underwriting standards. This position requires collaboration with Underwriters to manage risk referrals and provide essential support.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct preliminary evaluations and limited authorizations for new business, renewals, inspections, correspondence, and follow-ups across all business lines.
- Assist with rating and underwriting tasks for agents in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts.
- Collaborate closely with multiple Underwriters to facilitate underwriting processes for a designated group of agents.
- Prepare quotes, issue new policies, and manage endorsement processes.
- Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Familiarity with commercial lines, including Business Owner Policies (BOP), Auto, Contractors, Garage, and Dealers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Able to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
