Job Summary:
The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides professional nursing care to clinic patients under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. The LVN works collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure quality care for patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides general nursing care to patients, including administering treatments and medications as prescribed.
- Assists with the preparation of equipment and aids the provider during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
- Observes, records, and reports patients' condition and reaction to drugs or treatments to the provider.
- Oversees appointment bookings and ensures timely flow of patients.
- Greets patients, obtains well-documented history and vitals, and prepares patients for physical exam.
- May perform various tasks, including vital sign collection, initial assessment, and coordination of patient transfer to hospital or discharge.
- May administer medications, including IV push medications, and perform tasks such as blood collection, pulse oximetry, and incentive spirometry.
- May make arrangements for patient testing and admissions.
- Responds to incoming telephone calls and calls in refills and prescriptions to pharmacy.
- Documents patient care plans, orders, and prepares patient charts.
- Maintains patient files, records, and other information in a professional manner.
- Ensures preparation of exam rooms and re-stocks treatment areas.
- Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional licensure and affiliations.
Requirements:
- CERT
- LVN License in state of employment or compact
- BLS
