R&D Engineer - Fusion Research and Development Team:

We seek an accomplished R&D Engineer to join our Test Ops team at our Everett, WA facility. As a valued team member, you will work under the guidance of our Fusion Test Lead and collaborate with other experts to advance our research and development initiatives. Key responsibilities will include:
  • Contribution to the development of innovative technologies and expertise related to FRC fusion devices
  • Control of high-energy systems, including mega-joule capacitor systems
  • Design and execution of experiments and tests, as well as support for modifications to large-scale vacuum systems
  • Understanding and interpretation of plasma physics, including creation of FRCs and design of magnetic diagnostics
  • Implementation of control systems using LabView and PXIe-NI chassis-based systems
Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience or Master's degree with 2+ years of experience in aerospace, mechanical engineering, physics, or a related field
  • Significant hands-on experience with hardware, including assembly, repair, and modification of high-vacuum chamber systems and high-voltage capacitor/power supplies
  • Proven track record of designing, building, and operating complex experiments, including upgrade, diagnosis, and improvement of systems
  • Hands-on experience working with fusion plasmas or electric propulsion thrusters
  • Able to quickly learn new systems and take ownership of projects
