Cashier Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Cashier to join our team at Cnrgstores. As a Cashier, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, processing transactions accurately and efficiently, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide aggressive customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently, including handling cash, credit card, and check payments.
  • Verify merchandise quantities, descriptions, and prices to ensure accuracy when completing transactions.
  • Handle returns and exchanges, and provide refunds or exchanges as necessary.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and respond to customer inquiries in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Receiving payment on commercial accounts, receiving money from drivers on C.O.D. tickets, and aiding in credit application completion.
  • Complete and file due tickets for customers needing a later pick-up.
  • Accurately count down all tenders, prepare deposits, and organize the drawer for the following day.
  • Utilize the credit and check verification system according to established company policy and procedures.
  • Ensure the daily inflow and outflow of paperwork, including filing and storage, is handled in an efficient and precise manner according to established procedures.
  • Direct customers to items in the store and call other team members for customer assistance.
  • Responsibility for cash and controls to protect company assets.
  • Ability to maintain a positive customer service-attitude at all times.
  • Following all register procedures.
  • Ability to accurately determine the difference between similar products.
  • Help keep the store clean and organized.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous retail or customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Basic math skills and accuracy with handling cash and credit transactions.

Working Conditions:

This is an hourly position (non-exempt from overtime). The job requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 25 pounds, and working in a fast-paced environment. The store is open 7 days a week, and the Cashier may be required to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
