Job Summary

Ryder is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team as a Heavy Duty Vehicle Technician. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electronic issues, and ensuring our fleet of vehicles is in top condition.

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including routine preventative maintenance and diagnostic repairs
  • Inspect and repair standard vehicle components, including brakes, tires, and suspension systems
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electronic issues, utilizing diagnostic computer systems and technical documentation
  • Identify root causes of basic failures and perform repairs as required
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Perform facility maintenance duties, including cleaning and organization of the shop area
  • Interact with customers and drivers to determine the nature of complaints and assign tasks
  • Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation
  • Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines, including safety and regulatory requirements
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance
  • Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, preferred

  • Competitive hourly pay rate: $23.00 per hour
  • Certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
  • Quarterly bonus: Ryder pays up to $500 every quarter, four times per year
  • Second shift schedule: Monday - Friday, weekends off
  • Hours: 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm
