Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee the safe and efficient completion of projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising craft employees, ensuring projects are completed on time, and collaborating with engineers and other stakeholders.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in construction, with at least 5 years of experience in a supervisory role. They will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to manage and inspire a team.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the crew(s) and craft workers in the application of all projects.
  • Manage the performance of productivity, safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Collaborate with engineers, Job teams, etc. to determine project needs.
  • Utilize equipment, material, and labor to maximize production and minimize costs in assigned responsibility.
  • Set performance goals and deadlines.
  • Coordinate and interface effectively with superintendents and Foreman to ensure smooth workflow and schedule adherence.
  • Resolve employee conflicts, grievances, and scheduling difficulties, informing project and corporate management as appropriate.
  • Assist in schedule planning, determining craft labor needs, material quantities, equipment requirements, etc.
  • Keep track of material stock and orders.
  • Ensure project rules, procedures and programs are followed consistently, including those involving safety, attendance, and workplace behavior standards as reflected in Company's non-harassment and nondiscrimination policies.
  • Perform additional ad hoc assignments per managements direction.

Requirements

  • 10+ years' experience in the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings and other documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently supervise and evaluate craft performance.
  • General computer skills required, Microsoft Office proficiency (Word and Exel).
  • Organizational and time-management skills.
  • Experience with cranes is preferred.
  • Must have ability to manage and inspire others.
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Required Certifications or Licenses:
    • Driver's License
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies and parts up to 50 lbs. unassisted
    • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat and lift for long periods of time
    • Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work from platforms
    • Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind; and must be able to work for periods of up to 12 hours a day

  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
