Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive speech assessments and evaluations to identify patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide speech therapy services to patients, including screenings, evaluations, and treatment planning.
  • Evaluate patient response to treatment and document treatment plans as necessary.
  • Communicate results of speech-language evaluations and recommendations to the treatment team and patient/family.
  • Participate in patient care conferences to provide updated patient progress and goal revisions.
  • Serve as a resource in areas of speech-language pathology and conduct in-services as requested.
  • Coordinate treatment activity with other disciplines and team members as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the development of improved efficiency and productivity of clinical functions.
  • Assist with the development of student programs as requested.
  • Contribute to the delivery of cost-effective care.
  • Utilize resources appropriately and use/maintain equipment to prolong working life.
  • Participate in discharge planning.
  • Document and charge daily therapeutic units timely and accurately.
  • Communicate with the Director of Clinical Services regarding department programs, goals, objectives, problems, and successes.
  • Supervise Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPA) in direct patient care and patient-related activities.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of one year working with adult and adolescent populations, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Licensed by the state of Texas in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Certified in AHA BLS.
  • Maintain current certification in good standing during employment with Nexus Health Systems.
