In this role, you will be responsible for providing software system testing support, verifying code and certifying deliverables meet customer requirements and are free of defects and/or bugs. You will work closely with software engineers and other project team members to successfully test and assess ongoing development within demanding schedules, producing test cases and other project documentation.

 

You will also execute test plans and related test case scenarios based on documented and sometimes undocumented system requirements and/or business rules, identifying and documenting defects and anomalies. This may include positive and negative test cases, regression test case procedures, and simple to complex business functionality.

 

Additionally, you will use a software defect management tool to log and track defects, providing clear and concise steps to reproduce any issues using tools like HP's Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and Agile User Story management tools, such as VersionOne.

 

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science, or related field of study)
  • At least 2 years of professional service experience
  • Excellent analytic and design skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and performance-tuning skills
  • Ability to analyze complex and large amounts of data
  • Thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a team setting

 

This is a contract-to-hire opportunity, paying $30-$35/hour (1099) or $70K-$73,500/year (W2), offering full benefits and PTO. The position is hybrid, allowing for remote work two days a week and onsite in Washington DC, Tuesday through Thursday.
