Pediatric Urology Clinical Coordinator Job Summary

The University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics Department of Nursing is seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Urology Clinical Coordinator to join our team. This is a full-time position that will provide nursing leadership and oversight for the pediatric urology specialized patient care populations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with nursing, medical staff, and other health professionals in the development and review of standards and in planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care for the pediatric urology patient population.
  • Independently coordinate and facilitate patient care between multiple disciplines within both the confines of UIHC and the community.
  • Coordinate patient care to better utilize supportive services through patient visit and possible admission, pre-schedules testing, follows up with test results to both patient and physician, obtains medical history, coordinates follow up visit appointment, provides medication, rehab teaching, etc.
  • Facilitate care of pediatric urology patients requiring admission, coordinating necessary admission procedures, pre and post procedure care.
  • Operate autonomously in communicating with members of the health care team directing patient care and providing continuity of care across settings throughout the phases of care.
  • Perform telephone triage of patient calls to the Urology service and facilitates medication refills as needed.
  • Collaborate with nursing, medical staff, and other health professionals in planning, delivering, and evaluating care for specialty patient populations.
  • Provides direct patient care/nurse triage responsibilities as needed throughout the PSC.
  • Performs clinical duties, special projects, and other tasks as needed.
Requirements:
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Current License to practice Nursing.
  • 1-3 years of pediatric nursing experience.
  • Previous experience coordinating/scheduling patient visits.
  • Demonstrated experience of coordinating care along the healthcare continuum.
  • Demonstrated experience in patient education.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates leadership and training skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills (i.e. word, excel, powerpoint, access).
Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA), or Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP) is encouraged.
  • Demonstrated expertise in pediatric urology.
  • Professional nursing certification.
  • Familiarity with UIHC and ambulatory clinic workflows.

This is a 100% FTE position with a Monday-Friday schedule, 8 hour shifts between the hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm. No holidays, no weekends. The position is located at the University Campus. The pay grade for this position is 4B.
