Job Overview

AHRC New York City is a leading provider of services for individuals with developmental disabilities. We are seeking Per-Diem Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to join our team in Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx.

Job Responsibilities
  • Support individuals with disabilities in leading self-directed lives and becoming valued members of their communities.
  • Collaborate with individuals and others to plan and implement supports that build upon individual strengths, choices, and capabilities.
  • Work with supervisors to develop and implement effective plans, ensuring compliance with OPWDD regulations, agency policies, and values.
  • Use formal and informal methods to learn about the needs, interests, and desires of individuals.
  • Assist individuals in identifying and developing relationships with friends, family, and community members.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • One year experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • Knowledge of Home and Community Based Waiver and ability to keep up to date with such knowledge.
  • Understanding of Person Centered Planning.
  • Reasonable flexibility in work hours and ability to respond to scheduling needs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with program participants, families, staff, and community agencies.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in written form in English.
