Integrated Reading and Writing Educator, Part-time Faculty

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach Integrated Reading and Writing courses at Austin Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and delivering engaging and innovative coursework that reflects a commitment to student success and equity.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching and Curriculum Development: Prepare and teach Integrated Reading and Writing courses to a diverse student population, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies and technologies.
- Evaluation and Feedback: Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback that reflects program learning outcomes and departmental expectations.
- Student Support: Provide teaching and mentoring services to students in a manner that promotes student success and equity.
- Professional Development: Remain current in the field through professional development activities and stay up-to-date with best practices in teaching and learning.
- Administrative Tasks: Perform other related tasks as assigned by the department chair, dean, and/or associate vice president, vice president, executive vice president.
- Education: Master's degree in Reading or Developmental Education or Literacy, or Master's Degree with 18 hours of Reading, Writing, or Combination or an MA in English with 3 hours of Reading and 3 hours of Writing.
- Experience: Experience in teaching Integrated Reading and Writing courses, preferably in a community college setting.
- Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in using computer applications, online resources, and other technologies for the classroom, as well as experience with learning management systems such as Blackboard.
- Work Environment: Work is routinely performed in an office/classroom environment.
- Physical Demands: Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
Full-time faculty and staffing table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the college are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, retirement plans, and AD&D.
