Role Summary

Under the direction of the Controller, the Accountant is responsible for managing cyclical accounting functions, ensuring that all activities align with the policies, goals, and objectives set forth by the Board of Trustees. This role requires effective collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders to advance the Foundation's mission.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting and Reporting Duties

  • Manage weekly accounts payable to ensure timely financial obligations are met while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Oversee the processing and receipting of weekly gifts.
  • Assist in tracking and analyzing monthly expenditures and staff expense reports.
  • Support the preparation of financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Process payroll accurately and on time in collaboration with the Controller.
  • Work with the Operations Officer on human resource matters related to payroll and finance.
  • Engage with other departments to ensure operational efficiency and accuracy.
  • Represent the finance team in collaboration with the development team and other departments as necessary.
  • Assist the Controller and CFO with special projects as required.
  • Review and process weekly grant distributions.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $60,000-$70,000, depending on experience.

Qualifications

  • At least one year of progressive accounting experience; experience in fund accounting and foundations is preferred.
  • Familiarity with various types of charitable funds and their tax implications is a plus.
  • Experience in preparing financial dashboards and reports.
  • Prior experience with Foundant software is advantageous.
  • Strong technological skills, particularly in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to analyze data critically and manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
