Job Summary

The MRI Technologist I performs procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. This includes operating MRI scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews patients for a complete medical history and reviews in-patients, ER, and outpatients EMRs to obtain pertinent clinical history.
  • Records medical history on requisitions and correlates other test results and laboratory data with the exam being performed.
  • Evaluates technical quality of images and consults with a Radiologist if needed.
  • Assists in code blue procedures during medical emergencies and performs MRI scanning and assists Physicians/PA during invasive procedures.
  • Reports malfunctioning equipment to the department director/manager/supervisor and clinical engineering/radiology engineer.
  • Maintains knowledge and skills required to work safely in an environment that can create significant exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA approved program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology or active enrollment in a ARMRIT or ARRT registry eligible program.
  • ARRT certification in Radiologic Technology, ARRT or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine with advanced registry from the ARMRIT or ARRT in MRI required within one year of hire.

Working Conditions

Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies. Occasional standing, walking, and sitting during normal operation.
