Responsibilities

As a Senior Fleet Portfolio Analyst/Manager at GATX Corporation, you will play a vital role in managing and optimizing our railcar portfolio. This position offers the chance to collaborate with a team of dedicated professionals, all working towards enhancing the effectiveness and competitiveness of our investment strategies. Your strong analytical capabilities will be essential in identifying optimal investment opportunities and executing strategies that yield outstanding results.
  • Formulate pricing and term structures while overseeing the execution of strategic initiatives aimed at maximizing the economic returns of the current railcar fleet.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to pinpoint and negotiate favorable leasing opportunities for existing railcars as they emerge.
  • Design and implement new railcar investment strategies to enhance portfolio performance.
  • Continuously monitor and assess the performance of the existing railcar fleet, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Work alongside internal teams to ensure that strategies align with overarching business objectives.
  • Stay informed about industry regulations and market trends to guide investment decisions.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to effectively convey portfolio performance to relevant stakeholders and senior management.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related quantitative field; an MBA is preferred.
  • 3-7 years of experience in the rail industry or equipment leasing is required, with direct management of railcar lease fleets being highly desirable.
  • A solid understanding of economics, particularly in project evaluation and decision-making, is essential.
  • Basic knowledge of railcar markets, customers, commodities, and leasing structures is required.
  • Fundamental technical knowledge of various railcar types, components, and industry regulations is a significant advantage.
