Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled NICU Director Level III RN to join our team at St. David's North Austin Medical Center. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall function and staffing of the unit(s)/department(s).

Key Responsibilities
  • Forecast, plan, and budget monitor for the unit(s)/department(s)
  • Foster a culture of accountability and collaboration
  • Develop and implement strategies, policies, and procedures in support of facility objectives
  • Cultivate a superior clinical identity by identifying and implementing evidence-based practices to advance patient safety and quality outcomes
  • Ensure adherence to standards of care
  • Manage variation in clinical practice to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost
  • Stay abreast of internal/external benchmarks, accreditations, and designations and actively pursue efforts to achieve
  • Stay abreast of legal and regulatory standards and ensure compliance
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and practices in compliance with all legal/regulatory standards
  • Ensure efficient patient throughput and delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care through volume forecasting, patient flow coordination, and admission/discharge planning
  • Develop care coordination policies and procedures to promote improved quality, safety, and efficiency in care
  • Foster interdisciplinary communication and collaboration within and across departments and ensure staff with appropriate clinical competencies are assigned to meet patient care needs
  • Direct nursing practice and unit operations
  • Develop policies, procedures, and nursing standards to ensure patient and family needs are assessed, met, and evaluated
  • Provide leadership in attaining and sustaining an unparalleled patient experience
  • Instill accountability for providing consistent, positive patient interactions that differentiate the organization as a healthcare leader
  • Leverage various feedback mechanisms to benchmark performance and identify opportunities to improve customer/patient satisfaction
  • Develop and implement strategies to elevate the patient experience
  • Foster a culture that inspires commitment to the vision/mission/values of the organization
  • Ensure employees are recognized, valued, and supported
  • Develop and implement strategies to elevate employee engagement
  • Collaborate with administrative team and physicians to enhance existing services or develop new service offerings
  • Participate in the annual budget process, including input into department revenue and expense forecasts, staffing, and supply and equipment needs
  • Monitor department budget performance; identify trends and evaluate variances in relation to established budget
  • Develop and implement actions to address performance gaps
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or other approved education plan required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state(s) of practice and/or has an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation
  • BLS
  • ACLS preferred
  • NRP preferred/FHM preferred/RNC-OB preferred
  • 1+ year of experience in healthcare required
  • 1+ year of experience in leadership role required
