Transition Nursery Registered Nurse

As a Transition Registered Nurse (RN) in Newborn Nursery, you will play a vital role in coordinating and providing direct patient care. Your expertise will be essential in advocating for the needs of newborns after delivery, assessing and assisting in safe extrauterine life adjustments, and monitoring the stability of the newborn. You will also complete initial head-to-toe assessments, medication administration, and ongoing assessments of the newborn and mother during the two-hour transition period.
Key Responsibilities- Assign initial Apgars and facilitate skin-to-skin bonding for a minimum of 1 hour
- Assist with breastfeeding or feeding choices during the first hour and beyond
- Access and reassess the newborn's respiratory and airway support using neonatal resuscitation program guidelines, thermoregulation, and metabolic stability as appropriate
- Develop care plans that promote, facilitate, and maintain newborn wellness
- Administer medications as needed, provide neonatal abstinence scoring and urine/meconium collection as needed, as well as, blood glucose and Sa02 monitoring, lab work
- Act as a mentor to Labor and Delivery and Mother Baby Nurses as the relief to transition care during busier times
- 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- 1 year of experience in Newborn, Mother Baby, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, or Newborn Transition care setting
- Second skill-set can include Labor and Delivery, Mother Baby, and/or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
