Position: Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As part of the management team at Plantation Bay Golf and Country Club, the Assistant Superintendent works under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent. This role involves overseeing and participating in the upkeep of the golf course, which includes tees, greens, fairways, and pathways. Responsibilities also encompass supervising the maintenance and repair of both motorized and non-motorized equipment, along with other related tasks as necessary. The Assistant Superintendent may assume the responsibilities of the Golf Course Superintendent in their absence.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
A. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
B. Capable of performing physical activities such as bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and grasping
C. Strong verbal and listening skills
D. Effective visual acuity
E. Safe driving skills
F. Strong problem-solving capabilities

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
A. An associate degree in Turfgrass Management or a related field is preferred but not essential
B. Demonstrated experience in a similar role
C. Comprehensive knowledge of golf course maintenance practices, including turf management, planting, pruning, and care of various plants and trees
D. Experience in planning and supervising maintenance tasks, scheduling work, and managing staff and equipment
E. Ability to instruct equipment operators on the proper use and maintenance of machinery
F. Strong motivation to collaborate with the Golf Course Superintendent to meet high standards and achieve team objectives
G. Experience in personnel management, employee safety, and discipline
H. Flexibility to adjust daily work schedules based on professional judgment
I. Knowledge of safe pesticide and fertilizer application
J. Valid Florida Pesticide License is required
K. Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office
L. Capability to efficiently schedule and supervise maintenance work, prepare clear reports, and maintain positive relations with employees and the public
M. Possession of a valid driver's license
N. Strong leadership and problem-solving skills

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

SUPERVISORY CONTROL:
Reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent.

NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED:
Approximately 20.
