Key Responsibilities

The essential functions of this role include:

  • Conducting thorough RCRA environmental consulting, which encompasses planning, data evaluation, reporting, supervising field personnel, and engaging in fieldwork and sample collection.
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting environmental data to prepare detailed summary reports.
  • Maintaining professional communication with clients, vendors, and colleagues at all organizational levels.
  • Performing cleaning operations in confined spaces, including tanks, trenches, and other areas, utilizing various methods such as scraping and sweeping.
  • Engaging in physical labor related to cleanup and remediation tasks, including sample collection and waste handling.
  • Responding to customer spills and emergencies outside of standard business hours.
  • Conducting inspections of containers and collection areas to ensure compliance with labeling and sealing regulations.
  • Operating a range of light and heavy equipment, including pumps, pressure washers, and forklifts.
  • Preparing and signing shipping documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Conducting audits and checks on procedures and personnel.
  • Drafting work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Tracking manifest submissions to generators and the EPA.
  • Carrying out waste characterization sampling, including hazard categorization of unknown substances.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

Qualifications

Preferred and required experience includes:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrology, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field, or equivalent experience/certifications.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in environmental assessment, hazardous materials management, and compliance oversight.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively or independently.
  • Knowledge of Alaska environmental regulations and federal compliance standards.
  • Experience in sampling and remediation technologies.
  • Willingness to travel and work in field conditions, including extended hours as necessary.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
