Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our team at Specialty Restaurants Corporation. As a Prep Cook, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and timeliness of our food production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook food ingredients for breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu items and specials in accordance with standards and plating guide specifications.
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and sanitation of work areas and equipment.
  • Wash, peel, cut, chop, slice, and otherwise prepare vegetables and other cooking elements for meal preparation during a shift.
  • Responsible for storing items in the refrigerator, covering items left in the open air, and preparing special food elements ahead of time so that they can be quickly accessed and used in cooking.
  • May be responsible for preparing a certain portion of a dish.
  • Work with speed and efficiency to ensure proper and timely output of restaurant menu items.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen area throughout shift.
  • Complete assigned prep work for stocking and set up of station. Break down and clean station thoroughly every day.
  • Ensure proper rotation of all products to par. Label, day dot, and sign all products. Obtain Chef/Manager signature on all products.
  • Must be dressed and well groomed in Company approved uniform at all times.
  • Observance of all SRC Polices and Procedures.
  • Must wear approved manufacturer certified slip resistant or non-slip shoes at all times while working.
Requirements
  • High school or 1 year similar experience preferred.
  • Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate English.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to effectively engage others verbally.
  • Ability to listen and speak in basic English in order to maintain effective communications in the performance of essential job functions.
  • Ability to read and comprehend data sources, recipes and manuals, written work instructions, policies, procedures and other work materials in English in order to perform essential duties in accordance with safety, sanitation and operational standards and trainings.
  • Ability to read and follow safety instructions related to the utilization of cutting ware and other safety equipment.
  • Skill in the preparation of various recipes.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to walk and stand for hours at a time. Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent lifting, moving and carrying of kitchen ware, cleaning equipment, food boxes, garbage etc. weighing up to 70 pounds in the BOH.
  • Regular and prolonged standing and walking to prepare food, clean work station, move garbage, etc.
  • Occasional ascending/descending stairs across the restaurant to move food items, equipment, etc.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • Frequent use of hand to finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms
