Position Overview:
The Audiologist is responsible for conducting comprehensive diagnostic audiological assessments that facilitate the identification of various hearing impairments. This role involves the coordination and interpretation of test outcomes, as well as providing expert recommendations regarding hearing conditions to medical professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts thorough evaluations of auditory function, offering prevention, habilitation, and rehabilitation services for hearing-related issues.
  • Performs physical and otoscopic examinations of the external ear structures.
  • Engages in procedures such as ear cleaning assessments, fitting and dispensing of hearing aids, cochlear implant evaluations, programming, and rehabilitation, along with electrophysiological assessments of vestibular and auditory systems.
  • Provides counseling to patients with hearing disorders, their families, and other healthcare providers about the nature of the disorder and its management strategies.
  • Generates detailed reports and integrates audiological findings with other diagnostic information, including educational, medical, social, and behavioral data.
  • Kaiser Permanente routinely reviews compensation for positions and reserves the right to modify job descriptions or alter employment status as necessary, with prior notification to affected employees.
Minimum Qualifications: Experience
  • At least one (1) year of experience in diagnostic audiology, prevention, habilitation, and rehabilitation services for hearing disorders.
Education
  • A Master's degree or Clinical Doctorate in Audiology (AuD) is required prior to the commencement of employment.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Audiologist License (California) is mandatory at the time of hire OR a Temporary Audiologist License (California) is required at the time of hire.
  • A National Provider Identifier is required at the time of hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required at the time of hire.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to work effectively within a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
  • If involved in the dispensing of hearing aids, a Dispensing Audiologist license is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One (1) year of post-licensure experience in the audiology field is preferred.
