Job Summary
The Mammography Technologist is responsible for performing radiographic mammography procedures to produce high-quality diagnostic images for the detection of breast tissue abnormalities. This role requires independent judgment, creativity, and initiative to perform a variety of procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
- Performs radiologic mammography exams per department protocol, including advanced procedures like stereotactic biopsies and drainages.
- Demonstrates positioning competency and knowledge of breast self-examinations.
- Operates mammographic equipment to produce diagnostic images of high quality.
- Uses radiation protection to ensure patient and staff safety, meeting ALARA program requirements.
- Stays current on new procedures and equipment to maintain high skill levels.
- Maintains records required by JCAHO and the Utah State Bureau of Radiation Control.
Requirements
- ARRT registration.
- Current Rad Tech license in the state of practice.
- Meets and maintains mammography specific ACR & FDA/MQSA requirements.
- Meets and maintains ARRT Advanced Mammography Certification.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Imaging or Mammography.
Work Environment
This role is based at Intermountain Health Alta View Hospital, Intermountain Health Riverton Hospital, Intermountain Medical Center, or LDS Hospital, with a scheduled weekly hour of 40.
