POSITION SUMMARY:

The Capital Projects Engineer at Nestle Operational Services Worldwide SA is tasked with delivering technical expertise by identifying, developing, and executing significant projects within the manufacturing facility. This role ensures continuous oversight of the design process, guaranteeing compliance with all critical project elements and deliverables. Furthermore, the engineer will manage the comprehensive execution of projects, including construction and commissioning phases, while collaborating with clients and various internal and external stakeholders.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Development:
- Assist in the creation of pre-project approval documentation, including project charters and management plans.
- Monitor design progress to ensure deliverables align with established project objectives.
- Collaborate with the design team to understand project requirements for bid package development and construction bidding.
- Select appropriate contractors and contracting strategies based on engineering methodologies.

Project Execution:
- Lead the installation, construction, and commissioning of assigned projects.
- Ensure adherence to project scope and manage approval processes for any changes.
- Control project budgets by providing cost forecasts and cash flow projections, developing regular project cost and status reports.
- Maintain project milestone schedules with detailed integrated scheduling as outlined in the project charter.
- Collect and analyze data for project feedback and improvement.
- Ensure compliance with quality and GMP standards in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide construction management and support during plant startup to facilitate successful project outcomes.
- Evaluate and select construction firms through a thorough bidding and prequalification process.
- Manage projects independently from inception to completion with minimal oversight.

Administrative Support:
- Oversee the work of junior engineers on the project team as designated by management.
- Offer technical assistance to factory operations.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives as part of the job responsibilities.

- Maintain a strong commitment to safety, ensuring that all changes are evaluated for their impact on product quality, personnel safety, and environmental considerations.

- Uphold the highest ethical standards in all dealings on behalf of the community, consumers, and the engineering profession.

- Implement procedures to protect proprietary knowledge and technology.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Process, Chemical, Electrical).
- 3-5 years of experience in a technical role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in food or beverage sectors.
- 2+ years of project management experience, leading projects with budgets up to $3 million.
- Familiarity with PMI project management methodologies.

SKILLS:
- Ability to operate effectively in both office and factory settings.
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking capabilities.
- Proficient in data analysis and problem-solving techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven track record of successfully completing major projects in a manufacturing context.
- Effective resource scheduling to balance continuous improvement with daily operations.
- Subject matter expertise in specific engineering fields is a plus.
- Regular coaching from the Factory Engineering Manager is expected.

TRAVEL:
- Approximately 10% travel required.
