Position Overview:

  • This role involves crafting comprehensive testing strategies and methodologies, alongside the development, maintenance, and enhancement of automation frameworks and infrastructure.
  • Additionally, the engineer will innovate tools aimed at improving testing efficiency, diagnosing failures, and facilitating clear communication of results.
  • Responsibilities include monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on test automation outcomes.
  • The successful applicant will be technically adept, detail-oriented, innovative, driven, and results-focused.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct verification, validation, debugging, and troubleshooting of software and systems throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Interpret and analyze system requirements effectively.
  • Create Software Test Plans and Procedures.
  • Develop testing scripts and procedures for both formal and informal requirements.
  • Execute test scripts and analyze data for requirement verification.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve defects as necessary.
  • Support test readiness reviews and formal system verification of requirements, along with final test documentation.
  • Adopt and promote best practices in documentation, testing, and resource utilization.
  • Design and implement test automation to enhance efficiency and coverage.
  • Communicate effectively (both written and verbal) with team members and stakeholders as required.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to fellow engineers and personnel.
  • Uphold and advocate for the mission, values, and culture of the organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in software verification, validation, and/or test automation, particularly with embedded software on hardware.
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory. Candidates must possess or be able to obtain an active DOD security clearance shortly after starting employment.
  • Proficiency in shell scripting using Python or similar languages.
  • Experience in designing and developing automation frameworks and tools using modern programming languages such as Java, C#, C++, or Python, with a focus on object-oriented design.
  • Thorough understanding of software testing methodologies, with the ability to create effective testing strategies and translate functional requirements into test cases.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting abilities and a creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, customer-oriented, and multidisciplinary environment.
  • Experience in creating Test Description Documents and Test Reports.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in influencing best practices, methodologies, and processes in development and Quality Assurance.
  • Capability to operate at both architecture and code levels to identify and resolve testability challenges.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Familiarity with Linux and/or Unix platforms is preferred.
  • Experience with C or C++ in embedded software development is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration/Continuous Development automation pipelines is a plus.
