Job Summary

The Town of Needham is seeking a qualified individual to fill a part-time Crossing Guard (Traffic Supervisor) role. As a key member of the Police Department's Community Service team, the successful candidate will be responsible for directing and controlling vehicular and pedestrian traffic at an assigned location to ensure the safety of school children and the safe, orderly flow of vehicular traffic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure that children and members of the public use the proper crossing locations and are not in the street while traffic is moving.
  • Be alert for present or potential traffic hazards and submit written reports to the Safety Officer as applicable.
  • May be assigned to monitor areas and issue tickets for observed parking violations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One to three years of work experience, preferably working with the public.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation.
  • Demonstrated punctuality, reliability, and dependability.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to display good judgement and respond quickly to emergencies.
