Job Summary

As a Nursing Manager II at Prisma Health, you will be responsible for the 24-hour management of a specific patient care unit or service. This role involves directing and supervising the functions and activities of the assigned unit, ensuring the quality of care provided to patients and families. You will also be responsible for unit-based budgetary management and human resource management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the delivery of patient care for assigned units and ensure the quality of patient care provided.
  • Develop, analyze, monitor, and revise staffing patterns for units to ensure sufficient and properly prepared personnel are available to meet patient needs.
  • Perform human resource management activities, including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, counseling, coaching, performance planning, competency assessment, and terminating assigned staff.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to plan, develop, and monitor the annual capital, operational, and personnel budgets of assigned units and services.
  • Coach, direct, support, and evaluate the educational and research activities for assigned staff.
  • Develop quality indicators specific to the units' patient population, monitor quality of care using established benchmarks, and involve unit staff in planning and implementing performance improvement as appropriate.
  • Ensure that age-appropriate supplies and equipment are available to meet the needs of populations served by the unit, and ensure that staff assigned to the unit have education and training to meet the age-specific and developmental needs of the populations served.
  • Identify, plan, implement, and evaluate various long-term and short-term projects to meet patient or organizational needs.
  • Prepare, implement, and evaluate unit goals and objectives, and develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate personal performance objectives (including KRA's) on a yearly basis.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

This role has direct and/or indirect supervision of employees, including final budget authority, hire/termination/disciplinary authority, and performance appraisal responsibility.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • 3 years of RN experience, including 2 years in an appropriate area of nursing.
  • Current South Carolina R.N. License.
  • Certified in nursing specialty (preferred).
  • Previous Nursing Management/Supervisory experience (preferred).
