Job Title: Registered Nurse II - Float Pool

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse II - Float Pool reports to the Nurse Manager. Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides patient care at all four locations downtown: University Hospital, Ashley River Tower, the Institute of Psychiatry, and Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital.
  • Covers callouts and extended leaves of absence, often family leave.
  • Works with the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) team to provide patient care.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to achieve desired outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and a minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

  • Ability to reach overhead.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders.
  • Ability to fully use both legs.
  • Ability to use lower extremities for balance and coordination.
  • Ability to reach in all directions.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Ability to lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted.
  • Ability to lift from 36 to overhead 25 lbs.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force.

Benefits:

  • Up to $10k sign-on bonus for full-time position with a 2-year service agreement for external candidates who have a minimum of 2-years of Adult Acute Care experience.
