The Environmental Compliance Consultant plays a crucial role in assisting clients with the evaluation, classification, and transportation of various waste materials. This position requires a keen understanding of environmental regulations and the ability to navigate complex waste disposal processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Support: Aid clients in analyzing and characterizing waste streams, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Analytical Testing: Identify necessary analytical tests for specific waste disposal facilities and prepare Chain of Custody documents for waste samples.
  • Waste Characterization: Provide waste characterization based on analytical results, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and generator process knowledge.
  • Profile Preparation: Develop waste profiles for submission to disposal facilities, ensuring all documentation meets acceptance criteria.
  • Disposal Solutions: Offer clients various disposal options based on acceptance guidelines and pricing structures.
  • Cost Estimates: Generate estimates and quotes reflecting disposal outlet pricing.
  • Shipping Documentation: Prepare shipping documents utilizing a waste manifesting system, including manifests, Land Disposal Restrictions (LDRs), placards, and container labels.
  • Transportation Coordination: Collaborate with dispatch to coordinate waste transportation logistics.
  • Reporting Assistance: Track disposal quantities to support clients in their annual reporting obligations.
  • Training Maintenance: Maintain up-to-date training in RCRA and Hazardous Materials Management, including TCEQ and EPA guidelines.
  • Vendor Management: Review and verify the accuracy of waste disposal invoices from vendors, maintaining strong relationships with disposal vendors and Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facilities (TSDFs).
  • Sales Support: Assist sales teams during client site visits and meetings, providing necessary information regarding disposal inquiries.
  • Registry Utilization: Use the TCEQ Central Registry to research client waste streams effectively.
  • Billing Processes: Prepare and submit client billing to accounts receivable, ensuring accuracy in rates and inclusion of all relevant costs.
  • Financial Tracking: Approve and code vendor invoices for accounts payable, tracking all disposal revenue and expenses, and calculating monthly accruals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a science-related field (Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or similar) or equivalent experience in the industry.
  • Preferred experience in the hazardous waste sector.
  • Must obtain and maintain all necessary certifications/licenses (e.g., 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification).
  • Highly motivated with strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication abilities.
  • Working knowledge of RCRA, TSCA, and DOT regulations.
  • Ability to work in outdoor, non-climate-controlled settings.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year in the Environmental Industry (Required).
  • Minimum of 1 year in hazardous materials management (Required).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with RCRA or DOT regulations (Required).
