Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist with Critical Care Expertise

Position Overview: The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine at Henry Ford Health System is in search of a Dual Fellowship-Trained Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist/Intensivist to enhance our collaborative and innovative team. This role encompasses a full-time academic practice within a multidisciplinary environment, focusing on both resident and fellow education through clinical and didactic methods.
Essential Qualifications:
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Anesthesiology
- Completion of a fellowship in Critical Care Anesthesiology is mandatory
- Completion of a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology is mandatory
- Certification in Advanced Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography from the National Board of Echocardiography (NBE) is required
- Eligibility to sit for the ABA Subspecialty Certification in Critical Care Medicine and Cardiac Anesthesiology is required
- Additional advanced training or experience beyond fellowship is advantageous but not essential
- Must be eligible for licensure in Michigan
- Research experience and interests are preferred but not obligatory

Casework and Schedule:
- The Heart and Vascular Center at Henry Ford Health is recognized for its excellence by the AHA.
- Surgical case types include CABG, valve surgeries, aortic surgeries, and comprehensive heart failure management, including VAD, heart/lung transplants, and MCS support. Additionally, our team is involved in a renowned structural heart program, which includes TAVR, MitraClip, TMVR, Tricuspid valve interventions, and Watchman/Amulet devices.
- Our intensivists lead a skilled Advanced Practice Practitioner team in a 36-bed, closed cardiovascular intensive care unit, managing a wide range of critical cardiac conditions.
Additional Requirements:
- A minimum of four years of training at an accredited medical school with a medical degree.
- Successful completion of an accredited Anesthesia Residency Training Program.
- Active candidate status in the board certification examination process.
- Possession of a current Michigan medical license.
