In-House Counsel

Welcome to Serenity Healthcare, a leader in the transformation of mental health services. As we continue to expand significantly, we are looking for a highly skilled In-House Counsel to manage all legal matters and provide strategic advice to key stakeholders, ensuring adherence to legal standards.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, negotiate, and oversee all provider and employment agreements.
  • Offer legal guidance on various federal and state regulations, including HIPAA, fraud and abuse laws, Stark Law, anti-kickback statutes, and licensing issues.
  • Develop state-compliant operational models while conducting thorough regulatory assessments for current and prospective markets.
  • Assess, negotiate, and finalize real estate contracts, including leases.
  • Handle labor and employment disputes, while formulating and collaborating on policies to reduce HR-related risks.
  • Act as a legal resource for executive team members regarding the legal aspects of their respective departments.
  • Support the organization in maintaining awareness of and compliance with relevant laws and internal policies.

Essential Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate or operational healthcare law.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law institution and active membership in at least one state bar where Serenity operates, ideally Arizona or Texas.
  • Proven ability to identify and mitigate legal risks within the healthcare sector, encompassing insurance, patient care, operations, and financial issues.
  • Proficiency in negotiating and drafting various contracts, including employment agreements, payer contracts, corporate leases, and vendor service agreements.
  • Deep understanding of the regulatory landscape governing healthcare, with experience in creating and executing compliance initiatives.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively with diverse departments such as operations, HR, marketing, revenue cycle & billing, finance, and IT.
