Pharmacy Services Associate

This role focuses on providing pharmacy-related services in a hospital or retail setting. Key responsibilities include delivering pharmaceuticals, performing pharmacy services duties, and providing organizational support or services.
Job OverviewUnder the direct supervision of a pharmacist, this role performs pharmacy-related functions in compliance with the department's policies and procedures. The Pharmacy Technician Trainee performs minimal, routine tasks in preparation for becoming a Pharmacy Technician.
Key Responsibilities- Assists in the preparation and dispensing of medications and mixtures according to Policies and Procedures.
- Picks medications for automated dispensing cabinet replenishment accurately and with reasonable speed.
- Accurately and aseptically prepares sterile products utilizing proper technique.
- Fills floor stock remote orders accurately.
- Maintains storeroom areas, ordering supplies and removing outdated medication.
- Restocks medications into automated dispensing cabinets in patient care areas.
- Manages emergency medication inventory, including ordering and maintaining adequate supply.
- Maintains medication rooms, ensuring all appropriate medications are stocked.
- Empties return bins in automated dispensing cabinets.
- Utilizes the unit-dose machine to package bulk medications.
- Performs cycle counts of the carousel and maintains records.
- Assists in keeping the Pharmacy neat and clean.
- Conducts temperature inspections of the refrigerator in the automated dispensing machine.
- Inspects medication storage areas monthly.
- Greets and assists customers, participates in point of sale cash transactions, and engages in customer services activities.
- Provides customer or patient assistance over the phone.
- Communicates effectively with nursing, physicians, and ancillary services.
- Maintains collaborative, team relationships with peers and colleagues.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician Registration.
- Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year of pharmacy-related experience.
- Ability to walk and stand 90% of the day.
- Frequent reaching and grasping below, at, and above shoulder level.
- Pushing and/or pushing non-motorized equipment weighing 40 to 60 lbs.
- Requires manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation to operate prescription medications and computer keyboard.
- Ability to see medications, computer screen, and reports.
- Reading automated dispensing reports regularly.
- Ability to be organized and systematic.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to perform work in a timely and efficient manner.
- Possess excellent telephone etiquette skills.
- Knowledge of hazardous substance handling, complex sterile compounding techniques, and mathematical calculations.
- Extensive knowledge of medications, including brand and generic names, dosing forms, indications, formulary status, and strengths.
