Production Supervisor

The Production Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing processes. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities, guaranteeing production targets are met, quality standards are upheld, and safety protocols are adhered to.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety First: Promote a safe working environment by enforcing adherence to safety policies, procedures, and regulations throughout the facility.
  • Operations Oversight: Conduct regular safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Team Leadership: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the value stream, leading and supervising a team of production workers, providing guidance, coaching, training, and support to ensure effective performance and adherence to production standards.
  • Culture Development: Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Production Planning: Coordinate with the production planning team to allocate resources, schedule jobs, and optimize production flow to achieve schedules ensuring on-time delivery to our assembly lines and ultimately to our customers.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track production performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Accountability: Conduct regular tier accountability meetings with direct reports to set production expectations, communicate goals, objectives, and production targets, and address any concerns or escalations needed to solve production issues.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, quality, planning, purchasing, and maintenance, to resolve production-related issues and ensure smooth operations.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve manufacturing assembly processes, workflows, and procedures to enhance efficiency and productivity while maintaining accurate production records and documentation, including production reports, quality control records, and ERP transactions.
  • Talent Development: Collaborate with the human resources department to recruit, hire, and onboard new production personnel as needed.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs, provide training opportunities, and develop talent within the team to enhance their skills and capabilities.
  • Performance Evaluation: Provide regular performance feedback to production team members and conduct performance evaluations as required ensuring team members understand their role & responsibilities.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent & post-secondary education in a relevant field or a minimum of 2 years of proven experience in manufacturing management/supervision. A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes, equipment, and technologies, proven experience in a manufacturing environment, such as cutting, welding, bending, and assembly, with expertise in working with various metals and materials.
  • Solid understanding of production planning, scheduling, and inventory management with experience using/transacting in ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with quality control procedures and experience in ensuring compliance with technical drawings and specifications.
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations and practices in a manufacturing environment, with a track record of promoting a safety-first culture.
  • Experience in implementing lean manufacturing principles and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on results and meeting production targets.
