As a skilled Healthcare Access Coordinator, you will be an integral part of the patient care team at UVA Health, a renowned healthcare organization in the Commonwealth of Virginia. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and their families.

About the Role

This experienced position requires a patient-focused service representative who can engage patients, families, and referring providers at various stages of the patient care continuum through effective communication. You will be responsible for complex patient scheduling, including record retrieval, follow-up communication, and related tasks to ensure timely access to care.

  • Schedule appointments with the correct provider, ensuring all necessary information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Educate patients, parents, or guardians on managed care processes, communicate authorizations when needed, and review potential financial obligations.
  • Advocate for patients and families while coordinating multi-visit scheduling appointments.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, assisting patients in obtaining access to medical services at UVA Health System.
  • Document each request thoroughly and accurately.
  • Investigate and resolve or refer problems and conflicts as appropriate.
Key Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • 2 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity.
  • An Associate's degree or higher in a related field (e.g., healthcare administration, business). A High School Diploma may be considered if combined with extensive relevant experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in computer software and systems, particularly those used in healthcare settings.

  • A salary range of $17.31 - $26.83 per hour.
