Job Summary:

Louisiana State University is seeking a highly skilled Medical Specialist to provide quality medical care to our diverse student population at the Student Health Center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical duties, including specimen collection and various orthotic brace applications, with a focus on delivering exceptional patient care (40% of time).
  • Assist healthcare providers in examinations and procedures, such as laceration repair, incision and drainage, and toenail removal, ensuring a high level of patient satisfaction (30% of time).
  • Effectively utilize electronic health records for documentation, immunization verification, coding, billing, patient communication, and scheduling, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records (20% of time).
  • Attend regular meetings, complete required training, perform inventory and stocking of treatment areas, and participate in quality improvement activities, contributing to a positive and efficient work environment (5% of time).
  • Perform other duties as assigned, supporting the overall mission and goals of the Student Health Center (5% of time).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience in patient care or medical records work, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Substitution: Training in patient care or medical records will substitute for the required experience on a month-for-month basis.

Additional Requirements/Expectations:

  • Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to meeting the needs of the Student Health Center.
  • In accordance with University Policy Statement 18, this position is considered essential and may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of an emergency or closure.
  • Due to the nature of the position and/or position responsibilities, this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67.
