Job Title: Optical Specialist

At Amtec, we are seeking a highly skilled Optical Specialist to join our team. As an Optical Specialist, you will be responsible for assisting patients with proper frame and lens selection, educating them on various options for clear lenses, sunglasses, and other needs, and ensuring proper fit and measurements for all lens types.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist patients with frame and lens selection
  • Educate patients on various options for clear lenses and sunglasses
  • Ensure proper fit and measurements for all lens types
  • Verify patient insurance and explain their benefits
  • Dispense glasses and ensure patients know about adaptation to new prescriptions and lens types
  • Help patients with repairs and adjustments
  • Ensure patient phone calls are returned in a timely manner and the patient is informed of any delays with eyewear purchased
  • Assist with other tasks as needed
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Two to three years related experience and/or training
  • Bilingual: Spanish and English
  • Amenable to report onsite
Preferred Skills:
  • Customer Service - Must exhibit excellent customer service skills ensuring each patient interaction exceeds their expectations
  • Sales - Demonstrate strong relationship-building skills with customers and the ability to educate patients on their options resulting in successful purchases
  • Team Player - Must be a team player and able to effectively communicate with fellow coworkers, supervisors, and managers
  • Computer Skills - Knowledge of Manufacturing Software, Payroll Systems, Spreadsheet Software (Excel), Inventory Software, Order Processing Systems, Project Management Software, Word Processing Software (Word), and Electronic Mail Software
  • Language Ability - Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively before groups
  • Optical Knowledge - Preferred but required that the candidate has optical experience
  • Cross-Training - Ability to crosstrain and assist other roles in the office as needed
